General Roll Leaf began in 1950 under the sole ownership of Norman Zelman. Over the years, Norman built the company into the largest distributor of hot stamping foils in the United States and to this day General maintains that industry leadership.

In the early 1990s, Peter Budelman, then owner of his own foil distributorship, became a partner with Norman bringing over 20 years of experience and expertise to the company. With his knowledge of the business, Peter was able to streamline General and expand its reach into many new businesses. In early 2006, Peter purchased the company from Norman and is now the sole owner and president of General Roll Leaf.

Peter’s vision of General Roll Leaf has also been about having a family business. Pete’s wife Barbara is the company’s comptroller, his brother Tom is the VP, sister-in-law Brenda and niece Jen are customer service reps., nephew Jim is our warehouse manager, and sister-in-law Dawn runs one of our cutting machines. Just as we would do for one another, we do for our customers. We keep it personal.

Today General Roll Leaf continues to offer a wide selection of quality foils to meet the growing and changing needs of our customers. Likewise, our inventory continues to expand to meet marketplace demands and we continue to offer great service to our customers. At General, you’ll always get someone on the line.
